Hi! My name is Ashley Adams and I’m a senior at Old Dominion University. I’m majoring in Public Health with a deep interest in how social determinants and health disparities shape outcomes in rural and low-income communities. Growing up and observing these inequities firsthand fueled my passion for advocating for underserved populations and seeking ways to bridge the gaps in access, education, and care.

As an aspiring Physician Assistant, I’m committed to integrating public health principles into clinical practice — ensuring that the care I provide goes beyond treating immediate symptoms to addressing the broader social and environmental factors affecting my patients’ well-being. I believe healthcare should be proactive, community-focused, and equitable.

I’m currently an intern at a non-profit organization called Fit4Kids. Fit4Kids is located in Richmond, VA and their mission is improve children’s health and wellness through physical activity and healthy eating. I hope this internship will expand my education and gain more experiences in planning community health programs, public health initiatives, and population health management. Overall, I’m eager to collaborate with other healthcare professional to improve my community’s health outcomes and accessibility.
