Hi, I’m Alessandro Gildner!
I’m an Old Dominion University student living in Richmond, Virginia.
With over 13 years of military experience and a strong foundation in IT support, I’ve built a career around discipline, problem-solving, and adaptability. My journey has now led me to pursue a degree in Cybersecurity at ODU, where I’m combining hands-on technical skills with a deeper understanding of how to protect and strengthen information systems.
I’m especially interested in cybersecurity because it represents both a challenge and a responsibility—keeping data secure, defending against threats, and ensuring technology serves people safely and effectively. Alongside my academic work, I’m developing a home lab environment to simulate enterprise IT infrastructure, giving me a space to practice, experiment, and sharpen my skills.
I live with my wife and our two cats, Andy and Rudy. Outside of technology, I like to train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and explore the Richmond restaurant scene.
My goal is to transition into cybersecurity full-time, leveraging my skills and background to contribute to organizations that value resilience, security, and innovation.
