My name is Alexander Bushey, and I am pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity here at Old Dominion University. I am currently planning to apply to the master’s program here in cyber once I graduate, and if that goes as planned, I will graduate with my master’s in 2030/2031. After school, I intend to go into the field as a SOC analyst and eventually move into GRC and policy work. I am trying to get involved in other cyber programs and clubs by joining CS2A and CVCSA to get a handle on the field and its key topics, while also networking for myself.
I chose to major in cybersecurity because I have always had a passion for technology and computers. I was going to go into IT but then discovered cybersecurity, and from there I realized that was what I wanted to do, with system defense and policy making. I am hoping to take away skills that will help me with my career, such as better writing skills, a thorough understanding of Linux, and other cybersecurity concepts.
