This site will showcase my Spanish language abilities and cultural awareness through a variety of artifacts and evidence. Speaking Spanish is a part of who I am. When I was a toddler my grandfather all but adopted a teenage boy in his neighborhood whose mother had cancer. His name was Antonio and he was a DACA kid. Growing up he was like another cousin at every family event and gathering. Whenever I went to visit my grandfather he would teach me a few phrases. As we both grew older he moved out and got a job of his own and I moved to Virginia. Eventually, he moved back to Mexico but we still keep in touch through Facebook.

As soon as I stepped foot into Spanish class my freshman year of high school, I knew I would never be able to leave this part of me behind. The language and culture of Central and South America had captured my heart.

When I went to Guatemala in the summer of 2018, it solidified everything I knew. The people, culture, and history captured me. I hope to one day return, possibly even living in a Spanish speaking country for a while.

I cannot wait to continue to grow in this journey!
