My name is Jennifer Anderson. I am from Virginia Beach. I have been married for twelve years and have a ten-year-old son and seven-year-old daughter. After high school I attended TCC. After I received my associate’s degree in social science, I had my son. I took a break from school to stay home with my kids. Now that they are in school full time I am able to use that time to go back to school.
My goal is to become a clinical counselor. I transferred to ODU to receive my bachelor’s degree in psychology. After, I plan to attend grad school. I am still unsure which path would be best to take in getting my license to be a practicing counselor. I know I want to work with adolescents but in what setting, I am still deciding. I have wanted to be a clinical counselor since middle school. I have always been a good listener. I have experienced many life traumas that have given me the ability to relate to many others and how I have developed coping skills to get me to the person I am today.
I am taking this online class because my time is limited on what courses I can take on campus. I am excited to be in this class because I am very interested in not only how the brain works but how society has a hand in everyday lives. This being my first semester back after ten years, I am ready to get back into the educational mindset.
