About Me

My name is Andre Beckwith, Jr., and I am a Cybersecurity major at Old Dominion University with a strong interest in protecting systems, data, and people in an increasingly digital world. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity, where I am building a foundation in network security, risk management, incident response, and security operations.

My interest in cybersecurity started through hands-on technology courses and grew as I learned how critical security is to businesses, governments, and individuals. I have experience working with both Windows and Linux environments, understanding networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, and applying core security concepts like the CIA Triad and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. I have also completed the Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate and continue developing my skills through labs, projects, and real-world scenarios.

Beyond the classroom, I bring leadership and discipline to everything I do. I served as Class President and graduated as Salutatorian, experiences that strengthened my communication, responsibility, and problem-solving abilities. I also mentor youth at my boxing gym, where I help teach discipline, focus, and self-control. Those same principles guide my approach to cybersecurity: stay prepared, stay focused, and stay one step ahead.

My long-term goal is to become a Cybersecurity Analyst, helping organizations identify vulnerabilities, respond to threats, and build stronger security strategies. I am actively seeking internship opportunities where I can gain hands-on experience, contribute to real security initiatives, and continue growing as a professional in the field.

Cybersecurity is not just a major for me. It is a commitment to continuous learning, adaptability, and protecting what matters most in a digital age.
