Welcome

I am an English professor in the Pedagogy in English Communication undergraduate program at the Universidad Austral de Chile in Valdivia, as well as a PhD student in English at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, USA.

My areas of teaching and research are related to rhetoric/composition and literature, specifically L2 writing and the place and uses of literature in modern EFL education. My interests and work also include ecocomposition, ecocriticism, pragmatist philosophy (especially C.S. Peirce), critical pedagogy, and whatever the day brings in. My teaching philosophy in many ways boils down to that students should want to be there. This can be interpreted in two very different ways, and I’m inclined to agree with both.

I also work as a freelance writer, editor, and translator, where I’ve done working ranging from academic texts (primarily) to legal documents and literature.

Please do not hesitate to view more information about my current work and background using the links above, and feel free to contact me.
