Public health is a powerful tool to level that playing field, to bend the arc of our country away from distrust and disparities and back towards equity and justice.

Leana S. Wen

Hello, welcome to my Master of Public Health e-portfolio. My name is Andrew Wilson and I am a student of the Old Dominion University’s MPH program with a concentration in Applied Epidemiology and Public Health Data Analysis.

My interest in public health originated from my work in the food industry; cooking and baking have long been a passion of mine. My promotion into management at Chipotle helped me explore an intriguing side of food: food safety. To complete my promotion, completing a ServSafe course on food safety was mandatory. I became fascinated with food-borne illnesses, their symptoms, and how they spread. For example, learning that norovirus can be spread through airborne particles from emesis was infinitely more captivating than disgusting. Food and public health are similar in that they both involve caring for the well-being of people.
