About Me

Hello! Welcome aboard my psychology journey. My name is Kennedy Askew, I am 20 years old and currently majoring in psychology and am in my junior year of study. I began my journey at Tidewater Community College and have transferred to Old Dominion University to continue my path to becoming a mental health therapist. I am intrigued with this course because I believe it will heighten my sense of cultural awareness and allow me to better understand the people I encounter. The main interest I have in psychology is the ability to go deep into the minds of others to recognize and acknowledge the reason people do certain things and act in certain ways. As of now, I am focused on obtaining as much knowledge as I can concerning the human mind and perception so that I can apply those thoughts and ideas to my future career and life endeavors.

Before I had a devout understanding of what psychology is and how much of an impact mental health therapy can have on people who experience troubling times in their life, I was constantly giving advice to my peers and family members. During my time in high school, I realized that I had a gift of being able to give sound advice that resonated with those I talked to. Plenty of my friends and family sought my guidance and suggestions to get clarity on their life. I knew that psychology was the right path for me to explore and hopefully to continue to positively influence those around me.
