About Me

My name is Austrailya Vick and I am a senior at ODU, graduating with my Bachelors in Human Services in the fall of 2019. I have always worked in the helping field over the course of my life whether it was with individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities, or giving some one some helpful advice. I am married and have one daughter who is seventeen years old. I am also a small business owner where my husband and I are commercial crabbers. We catch and sell our own fresh caught Chesapeake Bay Blue crabs.  The reason I chose human services for my career choice is because I’ve always had a passion for helping others, especially those who couldn’t help themselves. I also have a passion for cooking and I enjoy serving others. Before becoming a small business owner, I was going to school for this degree, now that I am almost finish with school, I plan to volunteer in my field but focus on running my business.  My future goals would be to open a restaurant and continue to serve others by doing what I love to do. My long-term goal is eventually become a substance abuse counselor and work with those who struggle with substance abuse.
