Hello! I am a Special Education Assistant at Yorktown High School in Arlington, Virginia, and a graduate student in the Master of Library and Information Sciences for initial licensure in school libraries at Old Dominion University. I also hold a Master of Arts in Teaching (Museum Education) from The George Washington University.
I am passionate about teaching and supporting informal learning which are educational opportunities outside of a formal classroom. In the past, I have worked with all ages in museums and cultural sites to create activities and programs which inspired meaningful interactions relating to a museum collection or exhibition. Past programming has related to invention, American decorative arts, history of medicine, and early Virginia history.
In public schools, I look forward to supporting informal and formal learning opportunities in the school library. By encouraging students and staff in their school-based and personal interests, I hope to create meaningful and inspiring experiences as they learn to embrace a love of learning about new topics and deepening their embrace of reading.
After growing up outside of Toronto, Ontario, Arlington, Virginia is home to me and my husband, and three children. When not studying or at work, I enjoy gardening, cooking, and spending time with my family.
