About Me

My career in education began 24 years when I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Radford University. I was a classroom teacher for 20 years and have taught 1st, 2nd, 5th, & 6th grades. In January 2020, I left the classroom to take a job as a media specialist in a K-5 school.  Taking this position required me to pursue my Masters Degree in Library and Information Science. My journey as a graduate student at Old Dominion University began in the summer of 2021, and here I am about to graduate in December 2023 with my MLIS degree. It has been a wonderful learning experience that I will never forget. I am currently the library media specialist at Patrick County High School in Patrick County, Virginia where I have lived my entire life. I have recently married my best friend, Joe and together we have five beautiful daughters, two grandchildren, and another about to arrive any day now. Together we enjoy camping, hiking, music festivals, and sitting by the fire or on the porch nearly every evening all year round. I am always up for a good adventure and my journey to get my MLIS at ODU has been just that. This adventure has provided me with a much deeper knowledge of what it truly is to be a school librarian. I have learned many new ideas, theories, and perspectives as I have connected with my professors and classmates. I have grown and developed my knowledge base and feel I am ready to continue my adventure as a school librarian. Welcome to my site!
