My name is Gaige Baker and I am currently a junior majoring in English Education. My goal is to teach high school English. I am from Portsmouth, Virginia but have lived in many place due to being a military child. I am a first-generation college student and I am proud to be breaking the cycle.

Teaching wasn’t something I always knew I wanted to do. It wasn’t until my first semester of college when reality hit and from that day forward I have put all my effort into becoming a teacher. My high school English teachers were some of the most inspiring and motivating people in my life and to this day I stay in touch with most of them. As a military child, I have seen first hand the importance of ESL classes and that is what inspired me to obtain this certification from ODU. I want to be able to teach students the magic of reading and writing.
