Hello,

I am a Sophomore here at Old Dominion University studying Political Science with hopes of attending the University of South Carolina for Law School. From there I hope to eventually become and Air Force JAG Officer. As minor I am looking at possibly business just because it is a good field to be educated in. I do a few things outside of my academic including being a member of Alpha Xi Delta fraternity, club Volleyball, and having two job one with a Helping Hand babysitting company and with Majestik Auto Spa.

Evaluation Essay-  For this assignment we had to choose something to evaluate based on our personal opinions and opinions/ facts from other sources to help support our side. This was my favorite writing assignment of the semester because we got to express our opinion of something of our choosing. I chose to evaluate Cracker Barrel and the evaluation was mostly my harsh critique it with a little bit of praise for the restaurant.

Informal Writing- This paper our summary on an article about the “rules of school.” The author of the article gave advice throughout the article including to show up on time. I personally wasn’t very fond of this writing assignment because summaries are very repetitive to me and the article was pretty plain and boring to write about.

Research Documents&Research Paper- We had a research paper on police brutality and the research documents show planning and annotating from the articles we reviewed about police brutality which were then used in the research paper as well as other outside sources an our personal opinions. The research paper was one of my favorites because it was opinion based on a controversial topic that is widely talked about in society.

Rhetorical Analysis- This paper was an analysis on a famous speech and I chose the The Ballot or the Bullet  by Malcom X. Malcom talks throughout the speech about the black community needing to start acting and stop talking about change. I love reading works from historical figures because of the way they shaped society, especially with a figure like Malcom x, he is one of my favorite historical figures.  Malcom’s speech was fun to read and fun to write about, which makes it one of my favorites

Visual Argument- The visual argument was a two part assignment, a paper we wrote individually and a power point we created with the group we were in. The assignment was to get in groups and find an ad that represents an important issue within society. My group chose an ad that showed a child holding a gun in a city environment but the boy wasn’t actually in the city he was from Africa. The paper is about the efforts of the Human Rights Campaign to help grow awareness about the problem in other countries.
