Hello class! My name is Autumn Bechard and I am a senior distance learning student. I’ve been attending ODU online since 2017, working towards my bachelors in Psychology. I currently have one of my two minors completed; Cybersecurity and working on Public Service this semester. I live in Northern Virginia with my three cats; Smoochie, Miss Ellie, and Mitsy. While attending classes online I work a full time job at a direct mail/advertising company that specializes in political and charitable mail. In my free time I like to go to movies, write, read, and game. Another passion of mine is music, since last year I’ve attended 12 concerts. One of which I actually travelled to Canada for.
My current goals are to pass this semester so I can continue working towards my degree. My long term goal is to either apply for a government job once I graduate, or continue toward my Master’s degree. If I decide to work toward my Master’s degree, I will eventually work toward my Doctorate as well. My interest in Psychology started after my first introduction course. I simply fell in love with the subject matter. The human brain is an amazing organ. Learning about all the underlying ideas that make us who we are is fascinating to me. It’s a passion of mine to learn how the ideas, and theories in psychology allow us the great opportunity in knowing how to interact with people better. At this moment in time I haven’t quite decided yet since I don’t graduate till next fall, if all goes well with classes. Why I decided to take this class is I felt it could benefit me with a job in the government, especially with the potential of working overseas depending on the department I apply for. Another reason is other cultures really interest me, and I thought this course would be a good stepping stone in learning about other cultures from a psychology perspective.
I look forward to this semester, and wish everyone good luck in the coming months!
