SPAN 101

Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication

Reflection

Spanish for me was very hard to learn. I went through many obstacles in understanding the language because the language was very new to me. Through the countless hours of studying vocab and understanding the pronunciation I learned a lot. I definitely learned many different phrases in Spanish like how to introduce myself, answer questions and ask them as well in Spanish. I also learned how to write in Spanish properly how to pronounce verbs the correct way depending on who I am talking to like nosotros Corremos. I also feel very accomplished as I can speak to my friends from Spanish speaking countries and they can communicate to me. During the summer I work with many people around the world and have a lot of friends from south and central America. I am supper excited to show them what I learned in this class.

Cultural Understanding

I feel that I understand the culture of Spanish speaking countries better. I understand that every country is different but connected by the Spanish language. I learned that in other countries we use different social media platforms for example In America we use Instagram and Snap Chat but in Mexico they use snapchat and Whats App but not really Instagram. Also I learned that like English speaking countries Spanish speaking countries also have accents and different words for the same thing. This was never something I thought about but when doing the cultural exploration you hear the different accents which I thought was very cool.
