Hola!

Welcome! I am Charity Humbert, and I am a woman on a mission!

I set out on this quest mere months ago after an annoying little whisper of a thought arose from the depths I had suppressed it in. This inkling squirmed its way from the back of my mind where it had long festered, then wiggled its way down into my mouth where it churned with my tongue and shaped itself into words. Words that eventually sputtered from my lips, like the realization of curdled milk at a dinner table. The words could not be pushed down or swallowed. Though I tried to hold them back, the words had to come out, no matter how foreign they sounded, no matter how they defied my identity as a satisfied adult with a career and a retirement account. Discreetly, I let the words dribble out of my mouth “I have to finish my bachelors degree!”.

Now, because I am a woman of strong resolve and the words had been spoken, then a decision had been made so action had to be taken.

Strange, the power words have, even when no one is around to hear them spoken they propel people to take action, they inspire people to dance or sing. Even when the words don’t make sense, our voices convey our passions and emotions. Strange how a little whisper can inspire a great endeavor.

And so,

Twenty four years after graduating high school…

Eleven years after finishing my associates degree in culinary arts…

My adventure continues!

The first stop on my proverbial journey, Spain, by way of Spanish 101 at ODU.

Join me as I fumble through this beautiful language in an attempt to learn about spanish culture & how to interact with my spanish speaking neighbors.

(Mostly just to find out what they are cooking for dinner!)
