About Me

My name is Jose Rojas and I am from Northern Virginia about 15 mins from DC. I am a cyber security major with a minor in computer science. My passion for computers started in middle school when I was learning to type without looking at the keyboard! Then I realized you could do a lot more than just type fast. I am a motivated and determined individual that can learn relatively quickly. I have developed interests in systems security, networking, cyber risk management, and cyber intelligence. So far the two internships I have had at an MSP and at ODU have taught me a lot and have sharpened my skills.

Involvement
In 2019 I went to freshman orientation and my parents were pulled aside from a fraternity recruiting. They talked to me and my parents and I asked them some questions. I was later interested and I ended up joining the fraternity. Theta Chi has been a big part of my undergrad and will be for a really long time. I am so glad to be with something that is bigger than myself. With the fraternity we have done community service like campus clean ups as well as raised over $3,000 for the USO. We also unite Greek life by holding our own events that helps us raise money, such as sorority powderpuff and sororities best dance crew.

The about me page is significant because it shows that I can be a great team player. When joining a fraternity this taught me a lot of lessons that were applied to the rest of my time for undergrad. This also helped me find true friends and brothers that I could rely on, especially because I joined in my first semester as an undergrad student.
