Hello and welcome to my entrepreneurship portfolio!
My name is Mackenzie Coleman, and I am a senior at Old Dominion University expecting to graduate this December with a degree in cybersecurity. Technology has always been a huge part of my life and I have always loved being up to date with the newest devices. This is a common story for most people who are born or have grown up during the 21st century. For this reason, now more than ever we need to take cybersecurity as seriously as it is. The use and dependence on technology are at an all-time high and we need to ensure kids and young adults who use this technology every day, know how to use it safely.
Our group, consisting of myself, Sarah Noble, and Rahilkumar Patel, decided to concentrate on this lack of cybersecurity knowledge in middle schools and high schools and have created the outline for a cybersecurity curriculum. In this curriculum, we will focus on educating these students on the importance of safe device use and internet use as well. They will learn how to create effective passwords, see red flags on phishing emails and scam emails, become educated on the risks and possibilities of what could happen if they were hacked on a social media account, and so much more.
