About Me
Nicholas Samonte
My name is Nicholas Samonte, and I am a 20-year-old Cybersecurity major at Old Dominion University. Originally from Norfolk and raised in Virginia Beach, I am proud of my Filipino heritage, though I have yet to visit the Philippines. I graduated from Green Run Collegiate, where I ranked second in my class by GPA.
As a Cybersecurity student, I am still in the process of developing my skills, engaging in courses that cover a range of topics from programming to networking, and deepening my knowledge of various security practices. My goal is to contribute to improving cybersecurity, positively impacting the community, and advancing the field.
Though I’ve focused on my studies, I have gained work experience in various roles, including cashier, food delivery driving, and currently officiating volleyball games at a local field house. In addition to my academic journey, I played NCAA DIII volleyball at Virginia Wesleyan University during my sophomore year (Fall 2023 – Spring 2024) before returning to ODU for the current academic year. I now actively participate in the ODU Men’s Club Volleyball team.
Outside of academics and sports, I am also involved in the Vietnamese Student Association at ODU, where I enjoy being part of a vibrant community. My values revolve around family, loved ones, success, and enjoying life. I believe that maintaining strong connections with those around me, working hard toward my goals, and finding balance and joy in everyday moments are key to leading a fulfilling life.
