Hello! My name is Lydia Robb, and I am currently a student in the cybersecurity program at Old Dominion University. I am passionate about learning how to protect information systems and gaining hands on experience with the tools and techniques used in the field.
Throughout this Linux Cybersecurity course, I learned the fundamentals of using major Linux distributions, both through graphical interfaces and the command line to manage and secure computer systems. This class introduced me to key concepts like installation and configuration, file system management, shell scripting, and user authentication. I gained hands-on experience working with different Linux distros, including Kali Linux, one of the most popular for cybersecurity professionals. Throughout the course, I practiced essential system administration tasks such as network setup, process and log management, and software installation. I also explored important security operations, including footprinting, firewalls, and intrusion detection tools. Overall, this course gave me a strong foundation in using Linux as a powerful platform for cybersecurity.
