Hello! I’m Maria Abastillas, a dedicated cybersecurity major student. My interest lies at the intersection of technology and human welfare, believing that technological advancement can make a significant contribution to societal safety. This ePortfolio documents my educational journey and showcases my project experience, particularly the Child Tracking Device I developed for my CYSE 494 class.

About me

I am a cybersecurity enthusiast, driven by a passion for understanding and mitigating digital threats. I believe that with the rapidly evolving technology landscape, it’s crucial to be vigilant and proactive. I am currently studying cybersecurity with an ambition to graduate and make meaningful contributions to the field.

Educational Goals

My primary educational goal is to graduate with a major in cybersecurity. I am committed to gaining a comprehensive understanding of the various aspects of this domain – from network security, cryptography, to ethical hacking and digital forensics. My aim is to leverage this knowledge to build practical solutions for improving online safety and security.

Project Highlight: Child Tracking Device – CYSE 494

The Child Tracking Device project is a culmination of my passion for cybersecurity and my commitment to societal safety. For my CYSE 494 class, I developed a child tracking device that addresses child safety.

Objective: To design and create a secure, efficient, and user-friendly device that helps parents to monitor the whereabouts of their children and ensure their safety.

Project Overview:

Design: The device is compact, light, and child-friendly, with a secure system architecture ensuring minimal vulnerabilities.

Functionality: It leverages GPS technology for accurate tracking, providing real-time updates of the child’s location to the parent’s device.
