About Me

My name is Donna Brooks, I am from Keysville, Virginia. In May of 2017, I received my associates degree in Human Services. I have a background of working with employees who have disabilities, working with the elderly, and working in a state mental hospital. I am currently majoring in Counseling and Human Services.  I enjoy reading, writing and music. I also enjoy spending time with my family and learning new things. I am excited to take this course and being on this journey to get my bachelors degree. This is my third semester at ODU. I have always been intrigued with Counseling and Psychology and I truly believe my purpose in this world is to help others. I got my associates degree in human services over a year ago and now I am grateful to continue working on getting my bachelor’s degree. I am interested in this Psychology course because what better field to be in than helping and serving others and a community. I also think that this course opens doors and makes you take a deep look within yourself as well as expanding your mind to so many different things. I am excited to start this course as well as learning different things. I have always been someone who has been interested in the human mind. I am also very observant and wonder why people think what they think? Why do people do what they do or behave the way they behave? My aspirations are to eventually have my own practice where I can counsel people in a community. I know I have a long way to go but I will get there eventually.
