About Me

INTRO

I am a cybersecurity student pursuing a Bachelor of Science at Old Dominion University, with a strong academic background in computer science from prior institutions. I am building hands-on experience in Linux-based environments and security fundamentals through coursework and independent labs, and I am actively engaged in the cybersecurity community as a member of the Hampton Roads ISSA.

I am particularly interested in applying security concepts in real-world environments through practical, hands-on problem solving.

MILITARY BACKGROUND

My background includes prior military service, which reinforced discipline, accountability, and a strong commitment to professional standards.

ACADEMIC FOCUS

My academic focus is on developing a strong technical foundation in cybersecurity while exploring its interdisciplinary and human-centered dimensions. Building on a solid background in computer science coursework from prior institutions, I approach cybersecurity as a socio-technical field that requires an understanding of systems, people, and policy.

Through coursework and independent lab work, I have gained hands-on experience in Linux-based virtual environments using Ubuntu and Kali Linux. This includes configuring and managing virtual machines, working with command-line tools, troubleshooting system-level issues, and applying foundational security concepts in controlled lab settings.

In addition to technical studies, I am pursuing coursework in social sciences in cybersecurity, interdisciplinary studies, and bio-cybersecurity to better understand how security challenges intersect with human behavior, organizational structures, and emerging technological domains. This broader perspective supports my goal of applying security concepts effectively in real-world environments.
