My name is Fatimah Alshehri, RDH, BSDH, graduated from King Saud University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene at Old Dominion University in the United States. I worked as a clinical hygienist in the ministry of health in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia which provided me unique opportunities to treat different types of patients. After five years of clinical practice, I decided to pursue a career in teaching. I am currently working as a Teaching Assistant of dental hygiene in the dental health department at King Saud University. I am teaching dental lab procedures, dental prosthodontic, and clinical dental hygiene.

My short-term professional goals are to earn my M.S. degree from Old Dominion University and to start working on my first research project. My long-term professional goals are earning my Ph.D. degree and becoming a professor at the dental health department, publishing professional articles, and most importantly, developing my teaching skills in order to become an effective teacher who can help students be transformed into competent and caring dental hygienists. I am broadly interested in children’s oral health with particular emphasis on primary care provider attitudes towards children’s oral health, utilization of preventive dental services among children, and collaborative practice related to children’s oral health. I consider myself a ‘forever student,’ eager to both build on my academic foundations in dental hygiene education and stay in tune with the latest in research, technological advances, and teaching methodology through continued coursework.
