Hello, my name is Jenni and I currently reside in Fredericksburg. I was fortunate to experience living in different countries as well as several different states in America. I have been passionate about helping people since the age of seven and learned about Princess Diana. She had a significant impact on who I wanted to become in life. I have been active in my community since the age of twelve through helping with different church organizations. I have my associate degree in general studies and a career studies certificate in paraprofessional counseling from Germanna Community College. I also obtained a degree as a medical assistant from Medical Careers Institute in Newport News Virginia.

I have been a single mom for 11 years. Now that my son is a freshman in high school, I decided it was time to finish my bachelor’s in psychology with a minor in addiction, prevention, and treatment.  I chose Psychology because it interests me greatly. I believe it will improve my communication skills and ability to understand myself and others around me. I chose my minor because I recently lost a friend to addiction. He was a major influence in my life and encouraged me to apply to ODU and finish my degree. I hope to continue my education and obtain a master’s degree in counseling, so I can become a drug addiction counselor and help empower people to stay on the right track.
