When children experience traumatic situations or severe life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel or spiral out of control. More times than not, these experiences lead to substance abuse, delinquency, unsafe sex and pregnancy. Sometimes these delinquent behaviors may lead to criminal charges. My greatess passion is to help these children realize inspite of their present situation, they stil have a future. I want to help them heal and find a healthy perception of themselves. My goal is to give them structure, to support and empower, teach them coping skills, self-respect and responsibilty to guide them in their future.
I know I will have to meet these children where they are so I have been educated in several aspect of Psychology such as abnormal, adolescence, health, human cognition, physiological, and social. I have been educated in several aspects of Human Services such as crisis intervention, screening assessment and engagement, treatment planning, collaboration and referral, AOD counseling, group counseling, and professional and ethical responsibilities. Also to include several aspects of Addiction treatment and prevention such as field observation, human services methods, psycho-educational groups and substance abuse treatment and research.
My educational background includes an Associate of Science with concentration in Psychology from Tidewater Community College, Norfolk, VA. In December 2019, I will obtain my Bachelors in Human Services, minoring in Psychology, and minoring in Addiction Treatment and Prevention
