My name is Emily Russell. I am a woman of many interests and enjoy pursuing education in all forms. My study at Old Dominion University is Psychology, with an emphasis in Applied Experimental Psychology, and a minor in dance. My passions are hiking, cognitive psychology and modern or traditional Filipino dance. My goal is to pursue research in the way dance effects the motor cortex and sensation and perception in the brain. A passion I intend to continue is tinikling, a Filipino Traditional dance. I hope to keep traditions alive in the Filipino American community and bring others to appreciate the culture. This dance is a great way to start discussions about Filipino American culture and history. After being exposed to Native American tribes and hearing many families speak in Tagalog, my love of cultures continued to grow. As a student who loves how cultures combine and influence each other, Cross Cultural Psychology became very interesting to me.
