My name is Hailey Crowder and I am from Suffolk, Virginia. I chose Old Dominion University for many reasons. One reason is that I love how beautiful and diverse the campus is. There are so many different people from all over the world at ODU, as well as many various cultural organizations. Also, ODU has a wide variety of exceptional educational programs for almost any career. When I’m not on campus, I spend my time reading, going to the beach, playing different sports with my friends, and caring for my many pets. Something interesting about me that many people don’t know is that I love animals and have a pet frog named Snapple.
My Major
While attending Old Dominion, I will be pursuing a major in nursing. I chose to major in nursing because ever since I was little, helping others has always been a big part of my life. Also, I have always loved working in a team and believe that nursing is the perfect career for both of those interests. I am a certified nursing assistant and have much experience in direct patient care due to my clinicals. I’ve also volunteered at a special needs therapy center and have accompanied many hospice care patients at local nursing homes when they didn’t have any relatives close by.
