Dr. Landers

I completed my BA at Mount Holyoke College and my PhD at the University of Minnesota.  During my time at both institutions I was involved in the study of language, with an emphasis on adult readers.  My specific interests were related to how readers engage with narratives (i.e., fictional stories) and the impact of genre on reading outcomes.  After completing my PhD I became the Director of the Online Program in Psychology here at ODU, and later the Director of the Undergraduate Program.  My focus now is on improving the experience and outcomes for our undergraduate psychology majors, with an emphasis on our distance learners.

Dr. Still

Trained as a cognitive psychologist with expertise in visual word recognition, attention, priming, and recognition processes, I have spent the last four years considering how the underlying principles and methodologies associated with those areas of research can be used to improve interface design. This has led to my involvement in projects exploring human-computer interactions. In the classroom, I have had the opportunity to teach a variety of psychology courses and mentor students on the research process. I am generally fascinated by human thought and behavior.

Ms. Morrow

I’m the instructor for Psychology of Adolescence.  I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Auburn University in 1992 and my Master of Science in Psychology from Old Dominion University in 1995.  My main focus of study is in how children learn.  I’ve held many jobs in the past including developing and implementing supportive services programs for victims of domestic violence, running a national research project on prenatal and pediatric healthcare, and providing direct service support to homeless families.  However, teaching is my true passion.  I began teaching in 1996, but left to pursue other areas when my husband transferred.  I came back to teaching in 2006, and have happily been here since that time. Personally, I’m married and have one child, Sarah age 13.  For hobbies, I’m into all things triathlon.  By far running is my favorite of the three sports.  I’ve run races of many different lengths, but my crowing glory was running the Marine Corps Marathon in 2016. Goals for 2018 include Ironman 70.3 North Carolina.
