Hello there! My name is Cody Fite, I’m 23 years old, and this is my first year studying at ODU. I just transferred to the university from Rappahannock Community College, where I graduated from in May with my Associate’s in Psychology. Ever since high school, it has been a passion of mine to study the human psyche and to acquire the necessary skills to help those suffering from mental illness. I wanted to enhance my psychology major by studying cross-cultural psychology to further my grasp on how people operate. I believe we all have the potential to succeed in all areas of our lives if given the chance to be our true selves and have the power to live free from mental illness.
I work as a client service coordinator at Banfield Pet Hospital where I get to touch the lives of clients by helping them access quality care for their pets. I also put my degree to work by helping grieving clients learn how to cope with the loss of their pets. It is truly the hardest job that I have had so far, but also the most rewarding due to the impact I have on my client’s lives every day.
My career goals for the future include working with mentally disabled veterans or moving up and working in the psychology division of Banfield. I plan on working at the VA to help veterans try and adjust back to civilian life. At some point, I would also like to work with associates within Banfield that struggle with mental illness due to the exhaustive nature of the job. I think I will make a significant difference in the lives of my clients and look forward to helping those in need.
Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction! I hope that you all have a great semester.
