About Me

Hello! My name is Heather Disbrow, and I am a current student at Old Dominion University majoring in Human Services. My anticipated graduation date is Fall of 2022. I am a member of the National Organization for Human Services. I aspire to reflect their guiding principles as a human services professional which include the following:

  • The capacity of human growth and change.
  • Advocating for social justice.
  • Recognizing and utilizing peoples’ strengths and abilities.
  • Supporting physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.
  • Promoting collaboration and accountability.
  • Including all members of the human services community.

I am currently serving as Secretary of the ODU chapter of TUA and volunteering as a case aide at the International Rescue Committee in Charlottesville, VA. I live with my family next to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains there. I love hiking, reading and playing with my Shih Tzu, Henry!
