About Me

Hello, my name is Kohana Hitchcock, and I am a freshman at Old Dominion University. I currently work part-time as an intern for Virginia Ready Initiative, and I often help take care of my two younger siblings. I am intending to major in psychology, and after I graduate, I plan to go to medical school and work my way towards becoming a psychiatrist. I believe that mental health is often overlooked in our society, so it is important that people have access to professional services that can help individuals manage and improve their mental well-being. Abnormal psychology has always been an interest of mine, especially since many of my close friends and family members have dealt with psychological issues; I want to gain a better understanding of mental health disorders so that I can help treat those who deal with them. I wanted to take this course because I believe that social psychology will help me better understand the thoughts and behaviors of people. This will help me become a better psychiatrist in the future, since understanding the feelings of my patients is an important part of my intended career.
