About Me

Hello, my name is Jacob Murray. Right now, I live in a little town called Moyock, in the outer banks. Currently I am a junior studying cybersecurity at Old Dominion University in hopes of joining the U.S. Army doing electronic warfare as an officer.

I grew up doing many different sports, but eventually settled on joining the Boy Scouts and 4-H shooting sports. Where in the many years spent doing shooting competitions, I always placed on the podiums, thanks to the help of my amazing coaches of course. Also in my time in the Boy Scouts I worked my way up in leadership positions, where I learned many things such as public speaking, teaching, first aid, and many more.

As I grew older I made my way to community collage at the Collage of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City. There I worked on figuring out what I wanted to do for a career. I tried many things, from biology, HVAC, to computer sci. Eventually I found myself learning about cybersecurity from a into to Java class, and from there I was hooked. After that I spent the next two years getting my associates in science before moving on to a university.

I had many options to chose from in deciding where I wanted to go for my degree, but after weeding through the options I went with Old Dominion University for its Center of Academic Excellence designations from the NSA. These designations would help me secure a job in the Navy as an cyber officer, this was before I decided to join the Army instead in hopes of doing the same job.

So now this is where I am, working on my degree that will, if all things go well, be completed in 2028 as well as some certificates related to the IT and cyber fields. All in all, I have many hopes and aspirations for the future and am excited to see what it holds.
