Hi! My name is Janina Marin. I was born and raised in San Diego, CA. I am a military spouse, currently living in Portsmouth, VA. I earned my Associates Degree in Social Sciences from Tidewater Community College. I transferred to ODU in the fall of 2018. I’m currently working on getting my bachelors in Sociology with a minor in Psychology. I have always found it interesting how societies work together and decide what is acceptable and what isn’t, and how these ideas have an influence on us. I decided to minor in Psychology because I want to have a better understanding on how we use our own individual ideas and incorporate them into society. Growing up, no one at school and home never spoke to me about going to college. And my peers were in the same boat.  My goal is to primarily work with the Latino community. I would like to influence and encourage youths in reaching their higher education goal.
