Jennifer Oberer

Hello, my name is Jennifer Oberer. I am a senior at Old Dominion University. My major is Interdisciplinary Studies- Teacher Preparation. I am graduating in May , Cum Laude, with my Bachelor’s of Science and then continuing my education in Graduate School to earn my Master’s degree and graduate in Spring of 2020. I have lived in the state of Virginia my entire life. After graduation, the goal is to stay in Virginia and teach.

My current goals are to graduate in May with a great GPA. Once I have accomplished that, it s my goal to commit my focus to my Master’s degree. I am very excited to become a teacher and am ready to continue my journey of schooling to get there. It seems that all of my life I knew I wanted to work with children. What I didn’t know at the time is that I wanted to be a teacher. As I was growing up, I would “teach” my siblings. We had a whiteboard I would use to teach my lessons and I even gave them tests. As I got older, I went to school and enjoyed my education. I never thought I would be back in a school after I graduated. Everything fell into place my senior year of high school. I had to figure out what I wanted to go to college for. I was working in a daycare at the time so I thought about that and I knew I wanted to work with children. I remembered back when I was younger and how I taught my siblings and in that moment I knew I wanted to be an elementary school teacher.
