Hello, and welcome to my portfolio! My name is Mckenzie Jensen, or Kenz for short.

I am 24 years old and a student at Old Dominion University (ODU) in Norfolk, Virginia. I am majoring in Asian Studies and am currently a senior.  This is my third year at ODU as I am a transfer student from Virginia Commonwealth University. I have lived in Virginia most of my life, but was fortunate enough to serve a full time church mission for 14 months in various parts of Colorado. I miss the mountains every day!

I am planning a study abroad semester in Seoul, South Korea. It was postponed from Fall 2021 to Spring 2022 and now again to Fall 2022 due to the pandemic. My goal with my degree is to deepen my connection to Asia and the cultures that vary across the continent, with a main focus on South Korea. I want to become fluent in Korean and work in the entertainment industry, possibly teaching English or translating. I cannot wait to travel abroad!

I am very excited to take cross-cultural psychology this semester. It is a class I’ve been looking forward to because I have such a high interest in what makes humans different across the globe. I think if I had unlimited time and money I would spend my life focusing on LGBTQ+ culture and Asia and the impacts it has.
