I am currently seeking my second bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, previously graduating from Old Dominion University in 2016 with a bachelor’s in Exercise Science. During my initial undergraduate studies, I worked full-time in retail management where I gained valuable management and communication skills. Upon graduation, I was recruited into the financial sector as a banker with one of the top five companies in the country. During my five years in banking, I expanded on my communication skills and became an expert in verbal and written communication. I was then recruited by the number one insurance and investment company in the country to work as an agent and financial services professional, which is where I currently work while continuing my education towards a second bachelor’s degree. These roles have also given me the opportunity to learn and master many different operating systems, as well as gaining a deeper understanding of corporate structure and the need for cybersecurity and information security. I have enjoyed my time in management and financial services roles, but I see the future of the world shifting even more so towards the computer sciences. I feel that Cybersecurity is a perfect fit for myself as I love to identify and solve problems using critical thinking, research and understand ever-changing social dynamics, and enjoy making a difference as well as having a positive impact on the people and companies I interact with.
