My name is Ja’Quise Fisher and I’m a student at Old Dominion University, majoring in CyberSecurity. In this “About Me” I’m going to be talking about my Professional, and personal goals, and what experiences I have had in CyberSecurity, thus far.
Professional Goals:
After I receive my Bachelor’s degree in CyberSecurity I plan on working for the government. Working for the government has been a goal for me ever since I decided that Cybersecurity was what I wanted to do with my life. To achieve this goal, it’s going to take hard work and dedication. It won’t be easy but I’m always up for a challenge. The one thing about me is that; I never give up.
Personal Goals:
One of my main personal goals is to get my bachelor’s degree. Another one of my goals is to obtain some certifications. One of the main ones is the CompTIA Security+ certification. I also want to travel the world once I’m settled into my career. I want to go to Puerto Rico, Dubai, and Jamaica.
Experiences in CyberSecurity:
During my Junior year in high school, I took a CyberSecurity class at New Horizons Education Center in Hampton VA. In that class, we learned about the Hardware and IT part of CyberSecurity. We also learned about firewalls, the different networks, etc. It was a very hands-on class. I wanted to take that class to get an introduction to CyberSecurity so when I get to college I wouldn’t be confused in class. I can say it helped me. Also, during the summer of 2022, I attended the ‘Gen CyberCamp’ program at Old Dominion University. We also did lots of hands-on activities.
