Cyber Ops Reflection

In my opinion this event was interesting. I missed the first few hours of the event meaning I didn’t hear the speakers, I got there about an hour before lunch. I was surprised with how much care they took with preparing lunch. I wasn’t expecting the capture the flag event to go on for basically 7 hours. I tried to help people at my table with a few of the flags but I honestly couldn’t answer a single question correctly. The level of knowledge needed to participate in this event was way to high for me or any random person who just joined the major. I think the event was more catered to people with a good amount of experience under their belt. For this to be a event that all were required to attend, I believe it should have been something that people just starting in cyber security could have participated in.

CYBER CAREER CONNECTIONS REFLECTION- Joseph Mangelli
My opinion of the event was primarily positive. I walked in and saw a variety of different companies and
employers. The ones I talked to were interesting but right now I can’t spare the amount of time they
were asking for. The way some of them wanted to do things was basically shadowing and helping
someone for a 40hr week. Most of the stands had pamphlets and papers to gain your interest. The daily
life for the interns were shadowing someone doing their job full time. There weren’t any standout
companies I can think of, I remember talking to the FBI stand and Apex, but don’t remember the other
names. The people presenting their company were generally friendly and mostly younger people.
Practically no one told the salary range of their job. Over all the event was fun and a good way to meet
people and make connect
