My name is Karen Laws, and I am a student at Old Dominion University pursuing my Bachelor of Music. Being a Music Education major provides me with opportunities to peer teach, observe educators in the field, and receive guidance form highly qualified music professors within the F. Ludwig Diehn School of Music. I am a member of three vocal ensembles, as well as president of my acapella group. I believe that performing is an essential aspect of musicianship, and that applies to music educators too! Teaching students how to perform requires performance experience.

As both a musician and educator, connecting with others is one of my life’s greatest joys. Teaching is my favorite way to pursue that fulfillment.
Please allow this site to be our first step to connection! By navigating through the menu at the top of the page you will find my teaching philosophy, resume, and examples of work I have done in my time at Old Dominion University.
Thank you.
