About me

My name is Keiarra Baker and I am a Sophomore at Old Dominion University. I plan on graduating in spring of 2025 with a degree in Communications . I grew up in central Maryland my entire life. I have a great support system back at home. My family has been super excited to see me pursue my aspirations in life. I enjoy helping others and making a good impact on others lives. During senior year of High school I became a certified Direct Support Professional. I was an aid for adults with developmental disabilities. It was such a humbling experience. It reminded me of how many things I took for granted. I’m still grateful for the experience today. Summer of 2022 I was a camp counselor. I spent my time helping with lesson plans and problem solving because it was an outdoor camp and the weather was unpredictable. It became difficult to switch gears for over 30 kids but with the help of the other counselors we came to a resolution. It also ended up being another experience that I was grateful for.

I moved to Norfolk for a change of scenery and it was just that. I came here fall 2021 with high hopes and expectations. This was a new experience for me because I have never been away from my family for that long ever in my life. I had a rocky start due to unforeseen circumstances but I pushed through and persevered. I am excited to grow and to do better.
