My name is Kevin McKenna. I grew up in Mooresville, North Carolina before joining the Navy in 2013 at the age of 18. I served for 9 years as an Operations Specialist being stationed in Yokosuka, Japan on the USS George Washington before being transferred to Virginia Beach, Virginia at Tactical Training Group Atlantic in Dam Neck. I worked on various naval radar systems with a focus on Global Command and Control Systems. After separating from the Navy in 2022, I enrolled in ODU’s Cyber Security program as a Sophomore due to my previous Associate’s Degree in General Studies. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in hopes to enter the field of Cyber Security with an interest in the Cyber Crime aspect of the field. I would love to go to work for a financial institution analyzing various cyber threats and ensuring the bank’s systems are safe from data and privacy breaches. Conversely, I would also like to work with various law enforcement agencies on the solving and deterring of cyber crime.
