About Me

My name is Cassie Kimmer, and this is my second semester at Old Dominion University as a Human Services major with a minor in Psychology. I am 33 and I live in Richmond, Virginia with my husband and young son. I work as a bartender at a downtown restaurant and I’ve been in the service industry for over ten years. My original intention for my continued education was to major in psychology, but I’ve decided to redirect my path and focus on human services, where I feel I could enter a professional field more quickly, and help those in immediate need. I wanted to take this course because I have always be interested in any type of psychology, or anything that will help me understand the human mind. I am most interested in mental and behavioral health, and plan to become certified in drug and addiction counseling. I believe it is my purpose in life to help others, and I am on the path to doing so.
