My name is Kaylin Peterson, I am looking for a job and new people to connect with that can better me and my career overall.
Background
Today I will introduce myself to you. I am 18 years old first-year student, attending Old Dominion University. I am majoring in cyber security. I took my first cyber security class in my 10th grade year of high school. I enjoyed it mostly because of all the labs we did. for example, taking apart and putting together computers, hacking projects, and also the test lab assignments we used to do. This had me starting to think about doing some type of engineering but when the time came I was not qualified for the opportunity at the time. So, fast forward to the end of my 11th-grade year, and another opportunity came to sign up for a dual enrollment program. I signed up for it and decided to try something new, which was the mechatronics part of the program since the electrical engineering and cyber security part of the program was full. But I did enjoy one of the classes I enrolled in which was my drafting class. I enjoyed the electrical projects, and the blueprint project we did, which I want to do later in my career.
Current Goals
A couple of goals I plan on accomplishing are getting a job or internship involving cyber security or some form of engineering that could transform into a full-time job or point in the direction of a job that can better my career. I put getting an internship as one of my goal because it can better my career for the better. For example, I could benefit from a coworker/mentor and connect with big bosses within the workforce. However, a personal accomplishment is getting an apartment by the end of my sophomore year or junior year of college. I did not include my first year, because I think my first year should be a chance to adjust to new to the new things in my life which includes creating a new routine and also signing up for new things. But when I accomplish my goals I plan on finding new ones to better improve my career from wherever it stands.
In conclusion, feel free to explore my portfolio to see how my coursework and experiences have prepared me for my future career in the cybersecurity field.
