My name is Tazmonique Lankford and I am a 22 year old college senior at Old Dominion University. I graduate in May 2020, where I will be receiving two baccalaureate degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice.

I have completed three internship experiences while enrolled at ODU. Although, I did not enroll to receive course credit, these experiences were highly informative and rewarding. I briefly interned at the Probation and Parole office in Accomack County for a summer. This internship helped me gain experience for my criminal justice degree and helped me cement my career aspirations. During the summer before my senior year, I interned with the Envision Lead Grow nonprofit organization. While there, I served as a summer immersion intern where I developed my leadership and communication skills. I was responsible for a different group of middle school aged girls for four weeks and helped them develop through the program by building upon their entrepreneurial abilities. During the past semester, I had the pleasure of becoming an intern with the Hampton Victim Services Unit. This internship was cut short due to the unforeseen impact of COVID-19, but I was able to learn a lot about the field. I had become an independent intern and was given court cases to handle on my own. I was responsible for ensuring certain victims of criminal cases were present in court and answering any concerns they had. I also worked closely with the Commonwealth Attorneys.

My current career goals are to go into the field of behavioral health. I aspire to become a mental health counselor from criminals with mental illnesses or children with learning disabilities.
