Laura A. Smith BS, RDH is a Registered Dental Hygienist and a Clinical Instructor for the Howard Community College Dental Hygiene Program. She teaches clinically and didactically on topics of radiology, ethics & jurisprudence, public health, and local anesthesia. Laura continues to work clinically as a Registered Dental Hygienist, licensed in Maryland administering local anesthesia and nitrous oxide, at RZ Dental Group, where she began her dental career as an assistant and receptionist in 2007.
Laura earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology from Elon University. She continued her education earning a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Laura is currently enrolled at Old Dominion University pursuing a Masters degree in dental hygiene.
Her professional aspirations are to eventually serve as a program chair, or director of a community health center. She also is committed to lifelong learning, and always staying current in her field!
Her passions of dental hygiene include oral health literacy, providing culturally appropriate and compassionate care, teaching our next generation of dental hygienists, and wellness.
