My name is Lauryn Alexandria Ferrette. I was born on January 30, 1998, in Charleston, SC. By 1999, my family moved to Norfolk Virginia for the Navy and I’ve lived in the area ever since. I grew up in Virginia Beach Public Schools and graduated from the Global Studies and World Language Academy at Tallwood High School. Through high school, I engaged in several extra-curricular activities such as varsity cheerleading and honor societies but my main hobby was art. I did not know I would go onto the path of being a teacher until I worked on my senior project about the importance of art education. While working on the project I worked with the art teachers both at Tallwood High school and Landstown elementary and realized my calling to teach. Both art teachers influenced and mentored me which inspired me to change my major from business to art education. I realized the impact I could make in so many lives by simply following my passion.
