About Me

Hello everyone, my name is Mariana Apolonio-Tellez.

I was born in the city of Durham, North Carolina and moved to Chesapeake, Virginia when I was about 3 years old.

After completing high school, I had no idea where I wanted to go. I was debating whether leaving home and living on my own first time or staying and going to community college. The one thing that I knew for sure that I wanted to pursue a career in Nursing. After months of talking with my friends and family, I decided that Old Dominion University was my best option to complete my goal.

  • When I first took a tour of Old Dominion I immediately fell in love with the campus.
  • I liked that it was small, but had everything a student could need.
  • The drive to commute from home was outstanding and fast.
  • The people at ODU were welcoming and very nice to talk to.
  • The clubs and events offered by ODU were interesting and the campus itself was very pretty in general.
  • The thing that really helped me choose ODU was that I could stay close to my family and still pursue my dream of becoming a Nurse.

In my spare time, I like to read, paint, and even draw on occasion. I love to play volleyball and tennis, although I am not good at it, I do it for fun and exercise. I enjoy traveling and baking, but unfortunately have not had much time to do so. I am a bit of a shopaholic and it has gotten progressively worse over quarantine. In high school, I was big on volunteering around the community, and I hope I can still do that when time presents at ODU.

I am bilingual in Spanish and English. I have an amazing dog named Sol. She just turned four in July and she is mixed with Terrier and Shit-Zu, but we are not 100% sure what else. I have a younger brother who is 15 and my favorite show in the entire world is Friends.
