Hello everyone, my name is Mike Neverson and welcome to my ODU E Portfolio. I am currently attending Old Dominion University and I am a senior in my last semester as an undergraduate, so I am looking forward to graduating at the ending of the semester. I am majoring in industrial Technology with a minor in Management. For my Spanish 102 class, setting up an E-Portfolio was part of the tasking for the semester, so here is my E Portfolio site and welcome to my site!
Spanish 102 was a challenging experience because of my Caribbean background with a strong accent that sounds like a (Jamaican accent), learning Spanish was always going to be difficult for me. Nevertheless, I am an individual that likes challenges, so I genuinely enjoyed pushing myself throughout the semester to complete the different task that were required. At the beginning of the semester, I was incredibly nervous about the class but as the semester went along and learning the content and the different materials, the class became fun and had me genuinely looking forward to learning more about Spanish. From week 2 of the semester learning about words presentation of week learning about descriptive adjectives, possessive adjectives and regular tense or er and ir verbs. Each week had a different challenge which made for fun learning throughout the semester. For me week 7 was my most challenging because of the reflective verbs. This lesson even thou its fun cause me a lot of headaches, but Professor Alfaro was awesome and was always there to guide me through the semester every time I had problems with the content.
One of the assignments we did throughout the semester was talk abroad. Talkboard is exactly what it sounds like, it is the chance to interact with someone in a Spanish speaking country over zoom for 15 minutes, this person helps you practice your Spanish pronunciations and help to teach you the proper articulation of certain words. This is a cool assignment that I really enjoyed because it gives us a chance to talk to locals from different countries so you can hear the real time conversation and pronunciation of words.
What I found fascinating most about the class and Spanish overall is the fact that the same word sometimes has different pronunciation and use in different context when different verbs nouns and adjectives are place on the word. So, this site is a way to let anyone who visits my site know how my experience was during this semester for Spanish 102 and hopefully my incites and thoughts about it can help someone by letting them know what to expect throughout this class if they ever take it.
